Smart items are perfect Photoshop resources. You can make endless improvements without losing consistency and deliver unparalleled versatility. This non-destructive working method is really Photoshop’s new workflow. They can also do much more than most people know, as there are many ways to use vector smart objects in Photoshop.
In Photoshop, Smart Objects appeared beginning with CS2. In Photoshop, a visual display of the Smart Object is a layer that allows you to perform operations without losing the quality; at the same time, vector objects can be modified without rasterization.
Intelligent objects can be connected to external files. This reduces the PSD file size and makes dealing with many elements simpler. The option is available from the File menu, related objects can be modified in other program and automatically changed in your working file. Not only partial editing is possible, but the contents of the related file may also be substituted completely.
You can paint or add substances to change the texture if you want to change the color of it. However, it is very difficult to reverse if you change your mind later. This is the case for your pictures: you cannot change your mind later if you paint directly on it (without layers) or add a filter directly to the pixels. It covers the pixels and puts them in a jar.
Within a plastic bag, putting the potato is the same as putting the pixels on an intelligent object. Now when you paint or apply texture, the bag or “container” will be added and not directly to the potato. The bag is the intelligent item.
There are plenty of ways to use Smart Items in Photoshop. Here are some important Smart Objects advantages.
Re-dimension and transformation
Smart Objects can be converted without losing original data or image quality.
The transformations only influence the intelligent object but not the original picture behind it.
You can still edit and add philters to Smart Items. You will have to undo and reapply philters with standard philters if you want to make adjustments.
You can import or copy/paste vector artwork without the need to raster from Illustrator in Photoshop. This means that you can still use the artworks in Photoshop as vectors.
Smart Artifacts Limits
You cannot adjust the pixel details. However, if you like, you can edit the picture behind the Smart Object.
